Alumni of Czech and Czechoslovak universities met again after a year to reminisce about their student years

The annual gathering of Czech and Czechoslovak alumni was hosted by the Czech Embassy on May 26, 2023. This year, nearly 100 guests, including several representatives from the Czech private and non-profit sectors, gathered again.

For many alumni, this is a unique opportunity to meet their peers after many years and share memories of their student years abroad. The first Cambodian students came to study in Czechoslovakia in 1981. Over the course of more than four decades, nearly 400 Cambodian students have graduated from Czechoslovak and Czech universities and have contributed significantly to the development of the modern and prosperous Kingdom of Cambodia. The fact that His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, studied in Prague between 1962 and 1975, making him the most important "Czech" student in the world, contributed significantly to the success of the programme. At this year's meeting, photos of alumni from their studies in the Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia were shown. Especially the older photographs are now archival material and part of the history of Czech-Cambodian relations.
