From 27 to 28 November, Ambassador Martin Vávra participated in a business trip in the provinces of Kampong Cham, Kampong Thom a Tboung Khmum in Central and Eastern part of Cambodia. It was a joint event by the Cambodian Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries represented by the Minister, H.E. Dith Tina, with the Ambassadors of the EU Member States in Cambodia including the EU Ambassador, through the Team Europe Iniciative on Green Agri-Business and Decent Jobs with its priority sustainable food systems. This is the core of the EU´s development cooperation in Cambodia for 2021-2027.
The development of the countryside, an inseparable part of which is a progress in agriculture, has been a perennial challenge for Cambodia governments. Since pepper and cashew nuts can be found among the top export products, it was logical that the trip concentrated on these products, where the Czech Republic has had a good experience with pepper, although from a different province.
A Centre of Excellence, modern agricultural cooperatives and processing companies and exporters were visited and both general and concrete problems discussed.
