V. Tesař, CdA a.i. of the Embassy in Phnom Penh participated in the EU Delegation press conference on 21 September 2018 to launch a photographic competition within the framework of the European Cultural Heritage Year.
Together with the Head of the EU Delegation, G. Edgar and representatives of other EU Member States in Cambodia, they highlighted the importance of cultural heritage in the form of a message from past generations to present and future. Construction, architecture, diverse arts, but also, for example, meals, dining, and stories testify "how we lived and what we did". Cambodia also has an important cultural heritage fund preserved with the assistance of the EU and many other donors and countries.
V. Tesar recalled in this connection the project GOPURA II, which, with the participation of Czech restorers, helped in the period of 2008-2011 the professional repair and reinstallation of decorative lions at the Phimeanakas Angkor Temple and at the same time to train several dozen Cambodian restorers.
