On 29 October 2024, 20 years elapsed from the enthronement of the current King of the Kingdom of Cambodia – His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni

These two decades were arguably the most successful in the contemporary history of the Kingdom. Owing to the win-win policy of the then Prime Minister and the current President of the Senate, His Excellency Hun Sen, from the end of the 1990s, no political formations pushed through their political agenda by armed force any more. Cambodians thus enjoyed an unprecedented level of civil peace. The economic growth was materialized by a tempo that could be envied by more developed states, which also positively influenced the level of overall security. The personality of His Majesty Norodom Sihamoni not only symbolizes the state unity, but also represents in a very dignified way Cambodia abroad.      

It is highly-valued from the Czech point of view that the King stayed in Czechoslovakia from 1962 to 1975, where he underwent primary education, and then continued at the Prague Conservatoire and after at the Academy of Performing Arts also in Prague, where He years later obtained both the honorary diploma and the honorary citizenship. His major interest was ballet. Although it will have been soon 50 years since His Majesty left Czechoslovakia, He still speaks Czech of a native speaker.
