
Small Local Projects Realized in Sri Lanka Bangladesh and Nepal in 2019

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic approved five small local development projects in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal in 2019. The total amount of the support of the Czech Government amounted to 1, 941, 813.00 CZK (approx. 83,000 USD).
Sri Lanka:
Children Deserve the Best Phase II
The project was realized by ADRA Sri Lanka. The project was supported by 438,365.39 CZK.
The project followed the previous project aimed to building libraries in two schools for Czech money. One of the schools was in very poor technical condition, so this year project was focused on its renovation and the purchase of furniture and equipment, the renovation of the playground in front of the school, the purchase of teaching aids and personal hygiene and sanitation programs.
A boost for Sri Lanka’s rural community - with mobile vocational training and implementation of local production places
The project was realized by Nature Conservation Society. The project was supported by 319,512.22 CZK.
The project followed the previous project. It was focused on additional equipment of a mobile training unit, training women in sewing in four poor locations in Sri Lanka, and supplying sewing machines to production centers in each of these areas.
Nepal
Providing clean water and sanitation for schoolchildren in DarchulaNepal(School WASH)
The project was realized by Sankalpa Darchula Nepal. The project was supported by 382,340.66 CZK.
Within the project, toilets and drinking water supply were set up in two schools that do not have drinking water sources or basic sanitary facilities. The project also included special training for teachers on how to teach children hygiene behavior.
Construction of wheelramp and equipping of the school for physically disabled students by suitable furniture and equipment
The project was realized by Dhaulagiri Integrated Rural Development Centre. The project was supported by 397,931.69 CZK.
Within the project implementation, barrier-free access to the school was built, the school was equipped with special school desks for physically disabled students, textbooks were purchased and educational courses focused on access to physically disabled students were realized.
Bangladesh
Food and Nutrition Security through Sustainable Agriculture Development
The project was realized by Prova Society. The project was supported by 403,663.49 CZK.
The project focused on training 450 farmers on modern cultivation techniques, goat breeding and vermi compost production. In addition, rice and wheat harvesting and processing machines and rice and vegetable seeds were provided to farmers.
