Czech companies representing the Czech defence and security industry participated on June 11-12 in a business mission to Bangladesh under the project to promote economic diplomacy PROPED project. During the business mission organized by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Delhi and led by Ambassador Milan Hovorka, a number of meetings were held with senior representatives of the Bangladeshi armed forces and central government bodies, as well as with others interested in the cooperation with the Czech Republic in this area.
The aim of the project was to present the Czech defence and security industry in a country that is important from a strategic-geopolitical point of view, undergoes dynamic growth and develops a long-term positive partnership with the Czech Republic.
In the capital city of Dhaka, CS Soft, Excalibur Army, PAMCO Int, URC Systems, Czech Aviation Training Center and MESIT presented their technologies and modern solutions. The Czech Embassy in Delhi which is accredited to Bangladesh, in co-operation with the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Dhaka, has prepared for them a number of meetings in various forums, including a business forum attended by representatives of the Bangladeshi companies supplying military material, the Ministry of Defence and senior representatives of military forces responsible for purchasing military equipment.
The Czech Republic's interest in mutual defence and security cooperation was highlighted by the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bangladesh based in Delhi in talks with the Bangladeshi Army Commander, Chief of Air Staff, Secretary of the Ministry of Defence or Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority.
“I'm glad we managed to realize this mission. I consider the negotiations very positive. Bangladesh is a country where the Czech Republic is proud of its technological maturity, but also as a major development partner that has built a number of industrial capacities in the country. The Czech Republic is also showing a growing interest in developing versatile cooperation. It is therefore logical that in this positive environment there is significant potential for intensifying contacts and exchanges in the defence and security industries. Bangladeshi Army Forces are well acquainted with Czech defence technology solutions and are ready to consider the offer of Czech companies in this area. It is therefore up to them how they will take advantage of these opportunities and how successful they will be in tender procedures. What is certain is that in their efforts they can rely on the support of the Embassy and other government officials, ”said Ambassador Milan Hovorka after the mission.
