World Premiere: Mahatma Gandhi on Czech Stamp

On the occasion of the upcoming 150th anniversary of the birth of Indian spiritual and political leader Mahatma Gandhi, the Czech Republic issued a postage stamp with his portrait. Its author is academic painter Jan Kavan.
The ceremonial launch of the new stamp took place in Prague on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. The first day envelope was also published.
On the eve of this event, on June 25, 2019, a pre-premiere of a new Czech postage stamp was presented at the Czech Embassy in Delhi.
The following people spoke during the commemorative event:
1. Mr. Richard Hlavatý, Director of the Department of International Economic Policies II, Ministry of Industry and Trade
2. Mr. Milan Hovorka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal and Sri Lanka
3. Ms Arundhaty Ghosh, Member of the Postal Services Council of the Post Office of the Ministry of Communications,
4. Mr Sandeep Marwah, Director of Marwah's Film Studios Noida and President of the International Chamber of Media and Entertainment
5. Mr. Ratnesh Mathur, founder of Infosys and a large philatelist.
The opening ceremony of the new stamp was also attended by the senior leader of the Indian People's Party, Mr. Vijay Jolly.
The whole evening was hosted by Roman Masařík, Deputy Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Delhi.
