Over the past five years, a number of Indian tourists visiting the Czech Republic has almost tripled. In 2016, 67,500 Indian tourists visited the Czech Republic. The expenditure of the Indian clients is growing at a similar rate. Therefore, I consider it important to focus on this market, which has great potential,” says the Czech Minister for Local Development, Karla Slechtova.

We have been cooperating with VFS Global since the end of 2016 and it has proven to be very successful. On this occasion, I am pleased to announce the expansion of our mutual activities into another region, the Middle East. This region is a very strategic territory for us. Today, we have concluded a contractual partnership, based on which VFS Global will implement several promotional activities focused on the leisure and MICE segments in the region,” stated Monika Palatková, Managing Director of the Czech Tourist Authority – CzechTourism.

"I congratulate CzechTourism on opening an office in India. Permanent presence in one of the world's fastest growing outbound markets has been for a long time  supported by me and I am glad to be present today at the opening ceremony of the office. VFS Global is a reliable partner in the visa area and I am convinced that the partnership of CzechTourism with this company will lead to a further increase of interest about the Czech Republic.", clarifies Milan Hovorka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in India.

Indian tourists spent 162,000 nights in the Czech Republic in 2016. They spend approximately 30 % above the average in comparison to other visitors, at a total amount of more than 200 US dollars per person per day. A typical Indian tourist combines a visit of the Czech Republic with a further two or three European countries.

CzechTourism will focus its promotion activities on experienced tourists who are more interested in culture than shopping and are ready to come for a longer time to discover more in the Czech Republic.

The Czech Republic is among ten of the fastest growing target destinations for Indian tourists in Europe. By 2021, the number of people leaving India for Central and Eastern Europe should increase by 60%. This favorable travel prediction confirms that expanding into this territory is a step in the right direction,” commented the CzechTourism's Director of the Foreign Representation Division, Klára Vysloužilová, when asked about the changes in the network of foreign branches.

The first major mutual event of the foreign representation of CzechTourism in India was the “Czech Republic – Land of Stories Roadshow" which took place from September 11th September 15th, 2017 in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Turkish Airlines was the general partner of this event. Seven Czech companies also participated at the event. These companies specialize in services for Indian clients.

We would prefer it if the Czech Republic were not only perceived as Prague but we would also like to present new regions and products. In 2017, which is a Year of Baroque, we have already shown to Indian tour operators the beauty of South Moravia with its endless vineyards and rich culture, including UNESCO monuments. The year 2018 will be a period of celebration for the Czech Republic because it marks 100 years from the establishment of the first independent country. The main theme will be monuments and places related to this period. We cannot forget to mention the emerging phenomenon of Prague cafés, big brands like Bata, Skoda and Tatra as well as many beautiful traditions. Therefore, our target will not only be the September roadshow but also to show the attractions and adventures that Indian tourists should not miss out on when visiting the Czech Republic during the upcoming months,” summarized Arzan Khambatta, Head of CzechTourism office in India, when speaking about further plans.

The representation of CzechTourism in Mumbai is implemented by promoting the Czech Republic in India as an attractive tourist destination in the heart of Europe in accordance with the official marketing campaign of the CzechTourism agency which has continuously represented the Czech Republic as the "Land of Stories" since 2013.
