Czechia - Bhutan Bilateral Relations

Bhutan and its Gross National Happiness were again discussed in the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic on Thursday, June 25, 2020, during the annual conference organized by the Happy Czechia Foundation together with Czech Institute of Empirical Research STEM in the historical Knight Hall of the Wallenstein Palace in Prague under the auspices of the 1st Vice-President of the Senate  Jiří Růžička .

The panelists elaborated on the importance of the quality of life and feelings of happiness. Founder of the Association of Friends of Bhutan in the Czech Republic Mrs. Lilia Khousnoutdinova, who runs the Happy Czechia Foundation (Šťastný Česko ), underlined that the whole concept of measuring happiness comes from Bhutan, which has sparked a global conversation about what kind of values ​​we want to respect. She recalled that Bhutan inspired the United Nations in creating one of the world's important indicators "UN Development Index". The Czech Republic is currently 19th in the World Ranking of Happiness.
