New Czech Ambassador to Bangladesh

Milan Hovorka presented to President M. Abdul Hamid the Letter of Credence by which President Milos Zeman had accredited him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Czech Republic to the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
During the ceremony which took place at Bangabhaban, the President's official residence, on June 27th, 2016, Ambassador Hovorka conveyed to President Hamid his commitment to promote bilateral relations between the two countries.
Ambassador recalled that Czechia, the then Czechoslovakia, was among the first European countries to recognize Bangladesh just after the country had gained independence.
He went on to underline that today the Czech Republic and Bangladesh develop positive and constructive relationship in a number of areas, including trade, investment, energy, defense and people-to-people contacts.
The Czech Republic supports Bangladesh in its efforts to deal with a number of challenges and put the country on the path of political stability and economic prosperity, and in it's ambition to become a middle income country by 2021.
Commenting on the ceremony Ambassador said: "It is a very special moment in my professional life and I want to believe that it is also an important step forward in a jointly shared objective of bringing long-lasting friendly relationship between the two countries to even a higher level."
