Nicholas, devil and angel on the equator

A trio of supernatural beings has traditionally appeared in Kenya on the eve of St. Nicholas feast.
St. Nicholas, the devil and an angel visited the children to praise them for what they had achieved in the past year, symbolically reprimand them for what they had done done wrong, and above all to present them with a rich allotment to the general enthusiasm. Adults also had their share: Christmas carols singing and tasting of homemade seasonal and traditional national dishes and drinks.
Since none of the children were taken underneath by the cheerful devil in a sack, or at least no one noticed, and the angel and St. Nicholas praised the children more than they reprimanded, there is a fair chance that both supernatural beings and kind countrymen, guests and their offspring shall meet again next year on this traditional folklore occasion.
We thank everyone for the unique Advent atmosphere and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
