Briefing by the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Russian Federation and civil society organizations

On 24 September 2025, the Czech Mission in Geneva hosted a briefing by the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Russian Federation, Mariana Katzarova, on the sidelines of the ongoing 60th session of the UN Human Rights Council.

In addition to the Special Rapporteur, the briefing was given by representatives of the human rights organizations Memorial and the Centre for Civil Liberties, joint laureates of the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize. A new campaign “People1st” was presented, calling for the release of all captives held as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
