As a correspondent for Czech Television, Mr. Karas worked in Poland and Russia and for many years reported on key political and social developments in Central and Eastern Europe.

Guests had the opportunity to hear his perspective on contemporary Russia - its society, politics and everyday reality - based on the personal experiences of a foreign reporter, often hidden from the eyes of ordinary observers.

During the evening, Mr. Karas read excerpts from his book "A odkud bych asi tak byl?: Rusko očima zahraničního reportéra" ("Where Could I Possibly Be From?: Russia Through the Eyes of a Foreign Correspondent").
