Czechia and Luxembourg Strengthen Cooperation in Defence, Cybersecurity, and European Funding

More than forty representatives of Czech and Luxembourg institutions and technology companies took part in the “Smart Security & Defence: Cross-Perspectives from the Czech Republic and Luxembourg” business forum held on 6 October 2025 at the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce. The event highlighted the growing importance of cooperation in defence, security, cyber technologies, and European innovation financing.

The business forum was organized by the CzechTrade Belgium & Luxembourg office in cooperation with the Luxembourg Chamber of Commerce, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Luxembourg, and the Defence and Security Industry Association of the Czech Republic (AOBP).

“We live in an era when security and technological innovation are inseparably linked. By joining forces, we contribute to Europe’s strategic autonomy and greater independence from non-European suppliers,” said Czech Ambassador to Luxembourg Barbara Karpetová in her opening address. “This event is not only about showcasing cutting-edge technologies, but also about building partnerships between our countries in an area that directly affects the safety of our citizens and of the entire European Union.”

European Defence and the Role of SMEs

The “Smart Security & Defence” panel, moderated by Jenny Hällen Hedberg of Luxinnovation, presented the approaches of both countries to European cooperation under the European Defence Fund (EDF) and the European Cybersecurity Competence Centre (ECCC).

“European defence will only succeed if small and medium-sized enterprises are fully involved – they are the true drivers of innovation,” emphasized Jiří Hynek, President of AOBP. “Czechia has a strong tradition of technical creativity and export flexibility that can offer its European partners concrete solutions – from cyber defence to modern training systems.”

Pavel Zelenka, Director of the CzechTrade Belgium & Luxembourg office, added:

“Our goal is to connect Czech and Luxembourg companies so that tangible projects with real European added value can emerge. This conference showed that the two countries have complementary know-how – Luxembourg in cyber infrastructure and Czechia in technological development.”

Networking and Industrial Partnerships

The programme included a series of B2B, B2G, and G2G meetings linking Czech and Luxembourg stakeholders from defence technology, IT, cybersecurity, research, and public administration. Concrete projects were discussed in the areas of AI, satellite communication, cyber defence, and critical infrastructure protection.

On the Czech side, participants included representatives of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Luxembourg, CzechTrade Belgium & Luxembourg, CzechInvest, CzechInvest Defence Hub / NATO DIANA, AOBP, Czech Police, Customs Administration, Prison Service, and the companies FORSOLUTION CZ, Connectronics, EO Security, Tacticaware, Phonexia, Vorian, First Green Industries, JISR Institute, and CEC Group.

On the Luxembourg side, the forum welcomed representatives of the Embassy of Luxembourg in Prague, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ministry of Defence, LuxGovSat, Customs Administration, Grand-Ducal Police, Chamber of Commerce, LuxDefence, Luxinnovation, Luxembourg House of Cybersecurity, and the companies Trustteam, POST Luxembourg, Cebi International, MW Enterprise, BIL, Data Design Engineering, 3DPrint.LU, Spire Global, Fostra Group, Air Cargo Green Capabilities, Lux Real Estate, CSC Group, Ilavska Vuilleromz Capital, Chevalier & Scailes, EuroText, DGA Group, SportActivator, and Amitiés tchèque et slovaque (ATSL).
