Changes in the Schengen Visa Code

The revised Visa Code enters into force on February 2, 2020. Some revisions, which concern procedure for submission of Schengen visa applications, are summarized below.
Following the EU Regulation 2019/1155 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 amending Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 on the Community Code on Visas (Visa Code), published in the Official Journal of the EU on 12 June. July 2019, which will come into effect on February 2, 2020, we hereby inform you of the new visa fee structure as follows:
- Short-stay visa application fee - EUR 80
- Application fee for children aged 6-12 years - 40 EUR
- Application fee for reassessment of visa refusal reasons - EUR 60
Other changes include:
- Minor changes are made to the Schengen visa application form – the updated version can be downloaded below.
- Application should be filed no later than 15 days before the trip; should the applicant wish to submit it closer to the dates of travel, the consulate has the right to refuse the application.
- Schengen visa applications can be submitted only through visa centers in those countries, where the consulate uses its services.
- Review period remains 15 days, however, it can newly be extended only once to 45 days (as opposed to 30 or 60 days).
- New conditions for issuance of multiple entry visas will be applied.
- Facilitations for family members of EU citizens are newly defined.
