Visit of Ambassador Václav Bartuška to Škoda UK

On 3 November 2025, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to the United Kingdom, Václav Bartuška, visited the headquarters of Volkswagen Group UK in Milton Keynes, where he met with the management of Škoda UK. The purpose of the visit was to strengthen Czech–British cooperation in the automotive industry and to support the Škoda brand as a major Czech exporter.

Ambassador Bartuška was welcomed by Damien O’Sullivan, Managing Director of Volkswagen Group UK, and Matthew Bowden, Director of Škoda UK. During the presentation, the activities of both Volkswagen Group and the Škoda brand on the UK market were introduced, followed by a discussion and a working lunch.

The programme also included a visit to the Škoda department, where the Ambassador met with Škoda employees and took a brief tour of the facilities. The delegation then travelled in Škoda electric vehicles to the Volkswagen Group UK National Learning Centre, where they toured the premises and exchanged experiences with Škoda apprentices.

Volkswagen Group UK is the largest automotive group in the United Kingdom, with an annual turnover exceeding £12 billion. In 2024, it registered over 434,000 passenger cars, achieving a market share of 22.25%. The group employs more than 3,500 people in Milton Keynes, including over 900 directly within Volkswagen Group UK.

The National Learning Centre, opened in 2005, provides training for retail network staff and currently hosts approximately 1,000 apprentices enrolled in its apprenticeship programme.
