IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

● Applications must be submitted in person.
● All supporting documents submitted must be originals or verified copies.
● All documents must not be older than 180 days, with the exception of passports, registry documents, diplomas and similar documents, and photographs (which must reflect the applicant's current appearance).
● For UK criminal record certificates, only the ACRO Criminal Record is accepted (DBS certificates are not accepted).
● Foreign public documents (ACRO certificate, birth certificates, marriage certificates - if applicable) must be legalized, i.e. equipped with an Apostille or superlegalized.
● All documents must be submitted in the Czech language (with the exception of bank statements and bank cards, which may be in English).
● Documents issued in a foreign language must be submitted in their original version together with an officially certified translation into Czech (by sworn translators or Czech translators in the UK highlighted in yellow on this list).
● A set of original documents and a set of good-quality plain photocopies must be submitted.
● The Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic reserves the right to request additional documents or information, including documents listed as not required, if it deems them necessary for deciding on the visa application.

PROCESSING TIME: depends on the visa type

All long-term visa applications are processed and decided by the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic. The Embassy issues visas based on the Ministry's decision and has no influence over either the processing time or the decision-making process. Please do not contact the Embassy with inquiries about application status during the examination period. The Embassy has no information on them.

REQUIREMENTS

● Document confirming the purpose of stay – an original or a copy (notarized by a Czech notary) of a document certifying the purpose of your stay in the Czech Republic. An exception applies to civil registry documents (e.g. birth certificates and marriage certificates), which must always be submitted in their original form.

● Document confirming accommodation – an original or a copy of a document confirming accommodation in the Czech Republic. There are two main types of documents that may be submitted:

• ● a tenancy/rental agreement signed by both parties (signatures do not need to be notarized), or
• ● a statement from the owner of the flat/house confirming their ability and willingness to provide accommodation (the signature must be notarized by a Czech notary).

If you are subletting accommodation, you must submit the original or a notarized copy of the tenancy/rental agreement together with an affidavit signed by the owner confirming the subletting (the signature must be notarized).

● Document confirming sufficient financial resources

• ● A copy of a debit card issued in your name and valid for at least the duration of your stay in the Czech Republic, together with a checking account bank statement for the last three months relating to that card. You may cover the card number before making a copy, but the validity date must remain visible. A copy of the front side of the card is sufficient.
• ● A letter from a sponsor, such as a public entity or state authority (not an individual person), confirming financial support for the applicant during his or her stay in the Czech Republic. This must be an original document bearing a notarized signature and accompanied by an official Czech translation.

How much money needs to be in your bank account?

Updated information is available on the website of the Ministry of the Interior.

● Criminal History Background Check – all applicants must submit a Criminal History Background Check issued by the UK, as well as a Criminal History Background Check from any country in which they have resided for six months or longer (in total) during the previous three years, or an affidavit if that country does not issue such a document.

The only accepted Criminal History Background Check from the UK is the ACRO Criminal Record. (DBS certificates are not accepted.)

This document must be appropriately certified (Apostille or superlegalization) and subsequently translated into Czech by a sworn translator or a Czech translator in the UK highlighted in yellow on this list.

● Medical health insurance – you will be asked to submit proof of health insurance when collecting your visa. The required type and duration of insurance will be specified in the collection notice. Detailed information about medical health insurance can be found on the website of the Ministry of the Interior.

Please note that only translations by sworn translators or Czech translators in the UK highlighted in yellow on this list can provide translations sufficient for visa purposes.
