The Ambassador of the Czech Republic to London Václav Bartůška visited on Saturday two prominent Czech educational institutions in the British capital – Okénko – Czech and Slovak School in London and Czech School Without Borders, London – which, through their Saturday classes, support the language education of children of Czech origin as well as learners interested in the Czech language and culture.
Both schools play a key role in maintaining the Czech language and cultural identity among children and families living in London.
During his visit, the Ambassador observed parts of the lessons, met with teachers, volunteers, and parents, and praised their dedication and commitment. He expressed strong support for the Czech language as a cultural legacy and a tool of identity for families living in a bilingual environment. “Saturday schools like Okénko and Czech School Without Borders are examples of exceptional community work – they not only teach the language but also build strong bonds among families and strengthen the cultural roots of the Czech community in London,” said the Ambassador.
The Embassy of the Czech Republic supports activities that help children maintain and develop the Czech language and their connection to Czech culture, even beyond the borders of the Czech Republic.
