On Sunday, 21 June 2026, Ambassador Václav Bartuška, together with Defence Attaché Brigadier General Miroslav Heger, attended a traditional remembrance ceremony at the Czechoslovak Memorial Fountain in Leamington Spa.
The ceremony was held on the anniversary of Operation Anthropoid and was also dedicated to the soldiers of the Czechoslovak forces who fought in the United Kingdom during the Second World War.
The event was traditionally organised by the Friends of the Czechoslovak Memorial Fountain.
A particularly moving element was the setting itself, with the memorial surrounded by beautifully blooming roses originating from Lidice — a powerful symbol of remembrance, courage and hope.
