The conference "100 Years of Czech and Slovak Statehood - the History of Czechs and Slovaks in the 20th Century"

On May 9, 2018, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana organized in cooperation with the Embassy of Slovakia in Ljubljana and the Institute of Slavonic Studies of the Faculty of Philosophy in Ljubljana a one-day conference titled "100 Years of Czech and Slovak Statehood - the History of Czechs and Slovaks in the 20th Century". Part of the event was the opening of the exhibition "Czech Statehood 1918-2018".
The participants were welcomed by the head of the Institute of Slavonic Studies FF UL prof. dr. Namita Subiotto, who in her speech appreciated the cooperation with the two embassies in the field of education and culture. The ceremony was opened by Czech Ambassador Mrs. Věra Zemanová and the Ambassador of Slovakia Mrs. Eva Ponomarenková. The Ambassador of the Czech Republic briefly reminded the historical development and changes that the Czechoslovak Republic had undergone in the 20th century until the joint entry of both countries and Slovenia into the European Union. Following were the contributions of historians and a lively discussion between experts and the audience about the presented topics.
Approximately fifty listeners and visitors attended the conference and opening. Both representatives of the diplomatic corps, as well as students, educators and experts from Slovenian universities and scientific institutes, participated. Very positive feedback was received from the Slovenian professional public and academics.
