On 5th August, 2021 an outdoor exhibition summing up Prague works by Slovenian architect Jože Plečnik was launched in Krško. The Czech DHM Jan Beneš and Mayor Miran Stanko were present at the opening ceremony. The Krško installation is a joint event of the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana with the town of Krško and the Civic Center. The exhibition is installed at the front space of Krško Civic Center.
In the opening speeches, both the Deputy Head of Mission Beneš and Mayor Stanko, stressed the importance of the most prominent Slovenian architect’s traces in both Slovenian, and then Czechoslovakian capitals between 1920s-1930s. Later, Mr. Beneš was interviewed by media reps.
Plečnik’s invaluable impact on architectural development of the Prague Castle, a historically unique complex enlisted in the UNESCO’s list of world heritage, is presented in 22 panels.
Prof. Vladimír Šlapeta, architecture historian from Prague Faculty of Architecture, is an author of the exhibition. The project was supported by the Administration of the Prague Castle, Office of the President (Czech Republic), and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana.
Prior to Krško, Jože Plečnik & Prague exhibition was installed in Ljubljana, Celje, Novo mesto, and Maribor, with more Slovenian towns to come.
