Call for applications for the Summer School of Slavic Studies in 2026

Summer Schools of Slavic Studies (SSSS) are study courses organized by several public universities in the Czech Republic. The courses are held annually during July and August. Their duration varies from 3 to 4 weeks. The courses are intended for international students, professionals (teachers, translators, interpreters) and academics in the field of Bohemian and Slavic Studies who are over 18 years of age. However, they are also open to all those interested in Czech language, literature, history and culture.

Those interested in the 2026 Summer School of Slavic Studies can apply for scholarships through the Embassy. Applications must be received by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana no later than 25 March 2026.

There are 6 places available for Slovenian candidates for the coming year, namely 4 places at Masaryk University in Brno, 1 place at the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen and 1 place at the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.

The courses are taught in Czech or based on English, depending on the participant's initial level of Czech language proficiency.

The SSSS program includes courses at all language proficiency levels: from absolute beginners (A0) to advanced students (C1).

The scholarship consists in the reimbursement of course fees and other expenses related to the accepted candidate's participation in a summer course, which is provided by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports directly to the host university.

The scholarship includes:

  • registration and tuition fees
  • study materials
  • board and lodging (accommodation is provided in student dormitories)
  • trips and events organized by the summer school concerned.

The scholarship DOES NOT cover:

  • international travel costs
  • insurance
  • visa processing

 

The completed application form with all required attachments must be delivered to the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ljubljana no later than 25 March 2026.
