The Exhibition of the Fall of the Iron Curtain

On November 26, 2014, the joint exhibition of the the Embassy of the Czech Republic and the Embassy of the Slovak Republic, named the Fall of the Iron Curtain was opened in the area of the University of Ljubljana to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Velvet revolution. On 14 panels the exhibition describes the history of so called Iron Curtain and shows in the stories of real persons the fact that the Iron Curtain was not only abstract concept of the division of Europe but also  a real system of barbed wire that prevented the citizens of the countries of the Communist Bloc from the escape to freedom. A part of the exhibition focuses on the development of the situation during the Velvet revolution in Prague and the Gentle revolution in Bratislava. The exhibition was jointly opened by the Ambassador fo the Czech Republic H.E. Ms. Věra Zemanová and the Ambassador of the Slovak Republic H.E. Mr. J. Migaš, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences of the University of Ljubljana Prof. M. Bučar and Mr. A. Beber, Professor of the Social Sciences and the Chairman of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia.
