The “Diamond” in the Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait
The Four Seasons Hotel Kuwait is located in Burj Alshaya, a 205-meter skyscraper which is the new, stylish centerpiece of Kuwait City. Its design aims for sleek, avant-garde luxury, suitable as a prestigious backdrop for business and leisure, while offering one of the most breathtaking views which the city has to offer. Lasvit collaborated with international design studio Yabu Pushelberg to create exceptional lighting sculptures in the hotel lobby. Instead of installing the world’s largest crystal chandelier, the designers pared back this concept and designed the world's largest diamond like crystal. The diamond-like crystal weighs 900 kg and features 150 prismatic components, as well as a smaller one weighing 350 kg with 68 prisms. Its multifaceted asymmetry is extremely compelling and it beautifully reflects and refracts light onto its surroundings.
The “Moon” in the Central Bank of Kuwait
The Central Bank of Kuwait recently opened its new headquarters in Sharq, Kuwait City under the patronage of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. When commissioning the new headquarters, the Central Bank of Kuwait requested an iconic world-class building that would proudly stand as new landmark. The 42-storey tower is now one the tallest buildings of the Kuwait City skyline. The Governor’s Entrance is adorned with a nearly four-meter-large blue Moon. Inspired by night sky and stars, this dynamically-lit lighting sculpture represents an artistic vision of a planet in space. The sphere creates an impression of infinite surface, covered with hand-blown glass cones. Its random texture, along with internal programmed LEDs, creates a play of light and color that energizes the imagination.
The “Crystal Dome” in the Avenues Kuwait
The Avenues Kuwait is already renowned as a one-of-a-kind destination both for local shoppers and tourists. The complex maze of retail stores, restaurants and entertainment venues now entered Phase IV of the development. The Crystal Dome created by LASVIT is a unique glass installation in scale. The entire cupola was covered in intricately woven crystal beads, with a flock of 227 abstract birds. Each bird is made from a sheet composed of thousands of full-lead crystal beads woven into a fabric-like texture referred to as Twill. Each bead is hand-cut and polished for added luster and high refraction of light. The same material is used in the background to cover the cupola and fill the dome with an iridescent light evoking sunny sky. LASVIT created this stunning project from almost 2 million of crystal beads
