STUDY IN EUROPE in Kuala Lumpur

On December 15 - 16, 2018, the Czech Republic participated in Facon Education Fair in Kuala Lumpur, this time as a part of the Study in Europe pavilion. Within this project, held and funded by European Commission, 50 institutions from 18 EU Member States presented their study programmes to Malaysian students. Czech Republic was represented with the booth by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur and 12 universities that have long been interested in the territory of Malaysia. Presentation on Czech higher education for Malaysian students with the support of the Centre for International Cooperation in Education was delivered to attract more students to the Czech Republic.

The Embassy was offering study programmes of all Czech universities, providing brochures of Charles University, Masaryk University, Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, Technical University of Liberec, University of West Bohemia in Pilsen, Palacky University in Olomouc, Silesian University in Opava, Academy of Performing Arts, The Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, the University of Technology and Economics in České Budějovice, Czech Technical University in Prague and the Veterinary and Pharmaceutical University of Brno.

Czech booth was attended also by the Deputy Minister of Education, Teo Nie Ching. She was interested in the ongoing cooperation between Czech and Malaysian universities and she also appreciated the activities of the Czech Embassy to promote R&D cooperation between the two countries. Malaysian students show long-term interest in technical fields such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, medicine or architecture and design.

The attractiveness of the Czech Republic as a university destination has grown in the last few years. This was greatly facilitated by hundreds of government scholarships for Malaysian students of medicine in the past years. So was by the exchange programs having been used by more and more Malaysian students recently, notably through the Singaporean universities (NTU, NSU), but also thanks to established collaboration between Czech universities with Malaysian UM, USM, UKM, UTM, etc.
