
Economic Cooperation Discussed with Chief Minister of Sabah

Czech Ambassador to Malaysia Rudolf Hykl paid a visit to Sabah and was received by the Chief Minister Shafie Apdal on the 13th of August 2018. The courtesy call aimed at establishing contact with the newly elected state leadership.
Ambassador Hykl informed the Chief Minister about the bilateral activities in Sabah resulting in opening of the Honorary Consulate of the Czech Republic in Kota Kinabalu in 2017. With the intention of the Czech Republic to facilitate the development of business contacts, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur is organizing a business mission from Sabah in the field of transport infrastructure, construction, renewable energy and water/waste management to Prague in September 2018.
The Chief Minister Shafie Apdal welcomed the interest of the Czech Republic in developing relations with Sabah. Prospective areas for cooperation include hydro-power energy, water management, organization of public transport, supply of equipment for transport infrastructure, food and agricultural technologies, biomass processing or waste and water management.
