
Rectors of Czech Universities Visited Malaysia to Discuss Cooperation in Education and R & D

Embassy of the Czech Republic in Kuala Lumpur, in collaboration with the Czech Rectors Conference, organized a mission of the top management of seven Czech universities to Malaysia on May 16-23, 2015. The purpose of the mission, the first of this kind in bilateral relations between Malaysia and the Czech Republic, was to enhance cooperation in education, science and research between the two countries. A special focus was given to technical education, which is a priority of Malaysian government and the Czech Republic´s long-time comparative advantage.
The delegation included Prof. Petr Stepanek, Rector of the Brno University of Technology, Prof. Miroslav Ludwig, Rector of University of Pardubice, Prof. Josef Hynek, Rector of University of Hradec Kralove, Prof. Petr Noskievic, Vice-Rector VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Prof. Jan Skrha, Vice-Rector of the Charles University in Prague, Prof. Jitka Ulrichova, Vice-Rector of Palacky University of Olomouc and Assoc. Prof. Petr Tuma, Director of The Institute for Nanomaterials, Advanced Technology and Innovation of the Technical University of Liberec. The delegation was led by HE Rudolf Hykl, the Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Malaysia.
The Czech university rectors visited and discussed cooperation with management of University of Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA, both located in Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia in Johor Bahru, Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang and private universities of Sunway University, Taylor’s University and The University of Nottingham Malaysia Campus Kuala Lumpur.
While in Kuala Lumpur, the delegation met with the Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia Mr. Idris Jusoh and the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education of Malaysia Mr. Muhyiddin Yassin. Members of the Czech delegation were received by Mr. Ewon Ebin, the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation of Malaysia. They also discussed with the Deputy Minister of Higher Education of Malaysia Mr. Kamalanathan Panchanathan the collaboration in education in technical areas.
