Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský visited Kyiv on 22-23 November. In addition to working meetings with President Zelensky and Foreign Minister Sybiha, he attended a summit on food security, visited the Ochmatdyt children's hospital and a demining project.
The official visit took place the day after the launch of a Russian ballistic missile at Dnipro. In addition to expressing Czech support for Ukraine, the purpose of the trip was to exchange information on Ukraine's current needs and the current international political situation.
On the first day of the visit, the Czech Minister met with his Ukrainian counterpart Andrii Sybiha. "We discussed with the Minister military and foreign aid to Ukraine, as well as support for the Zelensky peace plan. I assured Minister Sybiha that we will not leave Ukraine in this situation," Minister Lipavský said after the meeting.
Diplomatic Chief Lipavsky also held direct talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. "The President thanked the entire Czech nation for the support it has expressed to Ukraine since the beginning of the war. He appreciated the Czech ammunition initiative and I assured him that we will be continuing the initiative next year," the Czech diplomatic chief said. At the end of the meeting, he presented President Zelensky with a gift in the form of Prokremel Tales, a book from the Foreign Ministry that maps Russian propaganda in a light form. He and the Ukrainian President also discussed closer formats of mutual cooperation and support for civil society.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the "Grain from Ukraine" food security summit. "Thanks to Ukraine and this program, Ukraine provides vital aid to countries around the world. Ukraine's grain must get to where it is needed. By supporting countries in need, we are limiting possible Russian influence and thus fighting Russian aggression," the Czech diplomatic chief said during his speech at the summit.
The Minister's programme in Kyiv continued with a meeting with Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal, where the Minister spoke in particular about support for Czech companies in the reconstruction of Ukraine, and with Oleksandr Korniyenko, Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
In addition to bilateral meetings, the Minister's programme included a meeting with the Crimean Tatars. The issue of human rights violations in Crimea and the situation of the Crimean Tatars is one of the key topics of the Czech Transition Cooperation Programme.
During his two-day working visit, Minister Lipavský also visited the HALO Trust project, which is funded by the government's Ukraine Programme. The project is helping to demine the country, which according to some estimates is up to one third mined.

That is why we will provide a cash donation of CZK 5 million before the end of this year for the Chernihiv Regional Children's Hospital, which is also the main children's hospital in the entire region. This year we will also provide approximately 480 butane-fuelled heaters for the Dnipropetrovsk region, where people are displaced by the destruction of the Kachovka dam," Minister Lipavský summarised the current humanitarian aid to Ukraine.
