An exhibition focusing on the anniversary of Czechia's accession to the EU presents the Czech journey to the Union, the importance of our membership, as well as the specific stories of Czech representatives in the EU. The exhibition in Czech and English was on display at Střelecký ostrov in Prague on 01 May as part of the "Experience Europe" event and then on display at Rašínovo nábřeží from 02 May to Friday 31 May this year. An electronic version is available on the MFA website.
The panel exhibition is a contribution to the celebration of 20 years of Czechia's EU membership. It maps the origins of our country's accession to the Union, explains why EU membership is important, focuses on the importance of the EU in our everyday lives and, last but not least, focuses on the Czech representatives at the Permanent Representation of the Czechia to the EU and Czech representatives in the EU institutions. It also responds to some widespread myths about the EU.
"During twenty years of EU membership, Czechia has repeatedly proved that it is an honest and reliable partner to other European countries. That we know how to behave correctly in crises and help where it is really needed. EU membership brings us long-term prosperity," says Karel Smékal, Director of the MFA's Communications Department.
On the occasion of the Czechia's anniversary in the EU, the MFA is preparing other activities, such as a discussion with the public at the Scout Institute, lectures at secondary schools and a series of short video messages with Czech representatives from the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU on the MFA's social media.
