The Czech Republic Hosts the 41st Plenary Meeting of the Australia Group

The Czech Republic will host in Prague, from 27 to 30 January 2026, the 41st meeting of the Australia Group, thereby symbolically opening a new decade of this international control regime. Hosting this meeting is not only an expression of trust placed in the Czech Republic by partner states, but also a confirmation of its long-standing commitment to ensuring the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. The meeting also provides a platform for expert exchange and for coordinating the approaches of partner states in the face of current non-proliferation challenges.

The Australia Group is an informal international regime focused on the control of exports of sensitive materials, technologies, and know-how, particularly in the chemical and biological fields, with the aim of preventing their misuse in the production of weapons of mass destruction. The activities of the Australia Group contribute to strengthening the global non-proliferation regime and complement obligations arising from international conventions, in particular the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production, Stockpiling and Use of Chemical Weapons and on Their Destruction, and the Convention on the Prohibition of the Development, Production and Stockpiling of Bacteriological (Biological) and Toxin Weapons and on Their Destruction.
