Roundtable on the Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Foreign and Security Policy

On Thursday 13 March 2025, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a roundtable on the impact of artificial intelligence on foreign and security policy.

The discussion was attended by representatives of a number of state institutions, universities, scientific and research institutes and thinktanks. "Artificial intelligence is a factor that is fundamentally changing the way diplomacy works and how we think about developments in the world," said Deputy Minister Jiří Kozák in his introduction.

Among the topics discussed were issues related to the use of AI in armed conflict and the abuse of AI in information manipulation or cybercrime. Participants also discussed technological sovereignty and the importance of Europe in the field of advanced technologies. There was also a presentation of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's AI projects with regard to the international agenda.

Throughout the meeting, participants had the opportunity to watch live translation of speeches and discussions into 43 languages as a demonstration of the ELITR system being developed at the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of Charles University.
