In Tel Aviv, he met with his Israeli counterpart Gideon Saar to discuss security, regional stability, and the reconstruction of Gaza. He then attended the IISS Manama Dialogue in Bahrain, where he spoke in a panel on energy security and held several bilateral meetings with partners from the region and partner countries.
In Tel Aviv, Minister Lipavský and Foreign Minister Saar discussed the current developments in the Middle East, security issues, and Gaza’s reconstruction. “This is my third visit to Israel since October 7. In addition to bilateral topics and Russia’s aggression against Europe, we also discussed the situation in Gaza. A sustainable ceasefire is possible only if Hamas returns the remains of all remaining hostages and disarms,” Minister Lipavský said. He also visited an exhibition commemorating the massacre in Kibbutz Kfar Aza, where he met with survivors of the attack, and with Dany Miron, whose son was abducted by Hamas on 7 October and for whose release he tirelessly campaigned.
In Bahrain, the Czech Foreign Minister took part in the IISS Manama Dialogue, speaking in a panel on energy security. In his remarks, he presented Czechia’s experience in cutting its dependence on Russian energy as an example of how a landlocked country can overcome geographic constraints and achieve energy independence through political will and investment. He stressed that diversification is essential, energy infrastructure is strategic, and solidarity among nations remains the greatest strength. He warned that continued reliance on Russian oil and gas weakens Europe as a whole and called for greater international coordination among global energy producers, noting that “security and prosperity are inseparable.”
On the margins of the forum, Minister Lipavský held bilateral meetings with Qatar’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, and Bahrain’s Foreign Minister Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani. He also met with UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and U.S. Deputy Secretary of Energy James P. Danly. The discussions focused on security and stability in the Middle East, humanitarian assistance, and practical cooperation in the field of energy.
