Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský will attend a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels on Monday 17 March 2025. The main points of discussion will be the Russian war against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East region and the current EU-US relations.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha is expected to join the first talking point via VTC. The ministers will follow up on the conclusions of the special European Council of 6 March and discuss further military support to Ukraine. Other topics will include a new package of anti-Russian sanctions and Russian hybrid threats.
The EU diplomatic chiefs will also discuss the situation in the Middle East – in particular Syria, Iran and Palestine. At this point, ministers will discuss, for example, the Arab plan for Gaza, the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the waves of violence in western Syria.
Finally, European politicians will discuss current Euro-American relations in the context of peace negotiations in Ukraine and US military support for the invaded country.
