Date: 22.01.2024 01:00 - 18:00 , Venue: Brussels, Belgium

On Monday, 22 January 2024, the Foreign Ministers of the EU Member States will meet for the first time this year in Brussels for the regular meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC). The agenda for the January FAC meeting includes three main discussion points: Russian aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East and relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The Minister will also meet NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

The ministers will discuss in particular the EU's security commitments towards Ukraine and the need for continued military and financial support to Ukraine, whose support is crucial to the EU's security. EU diplomatic chiefs will also focus on the latest developments in the Middle East and the possible establishment of a new EU naval operation in response to Houthi attacks on shipping in the Red Sea. The debate will also focus on the situation between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the future of their relations.

Minister Lipavsky will visit the NATO Secretary General in particular to discuss preparations for the informal meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Prague in May.
