Minister Lipavský Will Attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council in Luxembourg

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský will attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) meeting in Luxembourg on Monday, 20 October 2025. The agenda will include the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine, EU relations with Indo-Pacific countries, and the current developments in the Middle East.

The discussion on Russia’s continued aggression against Ukraine will begin with remarks by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha, who will join the EU foreign ministers in person. This will be followed by a debate on further military support for Ukraine and the adoption of a new, 19th package of EU sanctions against Russia. It includes a proposal originally put forward by the Czech Republic to restrict the movement of Russian diplomats within the Schengen area.

The second part of the meeting will focus on EU relations with the Indo-Pacific region, particularly in light of the upcoming ministerial meeting in November. Ministers will also discuss a new strategic agenda aimed at deepening cooperation between the EU and India.

Ministers will address the situation in the Middle East, including the twenty-point peace plan proposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. The discussion will focus primarily on advancing the EU’s priority of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Union’s role in supporting the peace process in the region.

Under the section of current affairs, attention will also be given to developments in Moldova, Sudan, and Georgia. The discussion will additionally touch on EU relations with Latin American countries.
