On Monday, 27 January 2025, EU Foreign Ministers will meet in Brussels for the regular meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council (FAC). The agenda includes Russian aggression against Ukraine, developments in the Middle East, and the future of EU and USA relations.
Firstly, a discussion will be held on Russian aggression against Ukraine. Dmytro Kuleba, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, will once again join the EU foreign ministers via video call. This will be followed by a discussion on military support for Ukraine and the adoption of another EU package of anti-Russian sanctions.
The second discussion will focus on the situation in the Middle East. The discussion will cover the ceasefire reached between Israel and Hamas, as well as humanitarian and stabilization assistance in Syria and the potential easing of sanctions against the country.
The debate on EU-USA relations will respond to the return of President Donald Trump to the White House.
The next discussion will focus on hybrid threats, particularly in response to Russian hybrid attacks.
Current issues will also address the situation in Georgia and Moldova, especially in Transnistria, where Russia is trying to influence internal developments in Moldova by provoking an energy crisis.
