Minister Lipavský Will Attend the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York

On 23-27 September 2024, Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský will hold talks with his UN counterparts on the options for dealing with Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and its consequences, as well as on the situation in the Middle East. Together with his EU and NATO colleagues, he and representatives from the Global South will look for ways to tackle other global issues, including cyber security challenges.
The Czech delegation to the regular session of the UN General Assembly will be led by President Petr Pavel. Priority topics will be UN reform and the support for Ukraine and sanctioning Russia for its unprovoked attack on the neighbouring country. Russia's war of aggression will also be the main focus of the UN Security Council. The Future Summit will be a major event.
The head of Czech diplomacy will emphasise in his speeches the support for Ukraine, for example its energy infrastructure. Minister Lipavský will join in the discussion with his counterparts from the G7 countries or the World Economic Forum debate.
The current developments in the Middle East will be discussed by politicians and diplomats at the Ministerial Meeting on the Middle East Peace Process. The Czech delegation will also take the opportunity to deepen relations with Latin American countries in the framework of the EU Foreign Affairs Council and the Latin American Community CELAC meeting.
Minister Lipavský will utilise the presence of foreign statesmen from all over the world for bilateral talks.
