Minister Lipavský to attend the May EU Foreign Affairs Council in Brussels

Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský will attend the EU Foreign Affairs Council (FAC) in Brussels on 20 and 21 May 2025. The main points of discussion will be Russia's war against Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East region. On Wednesday, the FAC will be followed by a meeting between EU ministers and their African Union counterparts.
The first part will be joined by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha. It will address the meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in Istanbul, the continuation of military aid to Ukraine and the adoption of further anti-Russian sanctions.
The EU diplomatic chiefs will also discuss the situation in the Middle East - in particular Israel, Palestine and Syria. At this point, ministers will discuss the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip and the suspension of sanctions against Syria.
Wednesday will be devoted to an EU-African Union ministerial meeting.
