
Minister Lipavský Met with Slovak Minister Blanár

On Tuesday, 18 February 2025, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jan Lipavský welcomed Slovak Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Juraj Blanár for a bilateral visit to the Czernin Palace. On the sidelines of the meeting, the ministers paid tribute to the victims of the shooting at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University and commemorated the heroism of the paratroopers during the Heydrich terror in the Church of Sts Cyril and Methodius in Resslova Street.
"The purpose of today's meeting was to explain what the Czech interests are, on which our foreign policy is based. I listened attentively to the Slovakian points of view," Minister Lipavský said after the meeting. He added that practical cooperation between the
foreign ministries was working well.
The Czech and Slovak diplomatic chiefs discussed the need for a strong and stable European Union in the political, economic and security spheres. They also discussed Russia's war against Ukraine and the possible contours of a possible ceasefire.
In the afternoon of the visit, the ministers signed a Consultation Plan, which will outline the framework for ministerial cooperation for the next two years. The ministers also viewed documents from the MFA archives.
