Minister Lipavský held an informal meeting of ministers of foreign affairs in Stockholm

EU foreign ministers discussed Russian aggression and relations with China. The topic of the informal meeting, so-called Gymnich, which takes place on 12 and 13 May 2023, was also the continuing military and material support to Ukraine and the implementation of Ukrainian President Zelensky's peace plan.

"Military and financial support from the democratic world is the key to Ukraine's ability to resist the Russian aggressor. At the same time, we must also think about the period after the war. Let us actively address the reconstruction of the country and help prosecute the war crimes that are happening in Ukraine today and every day," said Minister Lipavský.

The ministers also discussed the extension of sanctions against Russia, security cooperation with the international community and Russia's responsibility for war crimes.

The second major topic at this year's Gymnich was China. "China wants to change the international order. This is a big security challenge, among other things. Therefore, today we also addressed EU-China relations and it is clear that their future will depend on how China deals with the war in Ukraine. The Czech Republic is closely following its position," the Czech diplomatic chief added.

Ministers also discussed the EU's reconstruction efforts in Ukraine, including possible instruments.

Gymnich will be followed on Saturday 13 May 2023 by an informal lunch with the EU-Indo-Pacific Ministerial Forum with the participation of Ukrainian Minister Kuleba.
