The central theme of the three-day conference, which took place on 12-14 June 2025, was “Commanding (in) Chaos: Time for Europe to Step Up”. It is also the 20th anniversary of the conference.
The Minister opened the second day of the conference with a speech on Friday. "It is a great sign of Czech diplomacy that this conference is being held in Prague for the second time. A number of important statesmen came to the city and I was able to have several bilateral meetings. I would like to thank my colleagues from Globsec for choosing Prague as the venue for the 20th anniversary of the forum," said the head of the Czech diplomacy in his opening speech.
"Security is not free. Supporting Ukraine is in our existential interest. It is an investment in our collective security, prosperity and credibility. A strong and sovereign Ukraine is essential for a stable Europe. And a stable Europe is the cornerstone of a resilient and enduring transatlantic relationship. I repeat that we must not fail in this test of Ukraine," Minister Lipavský appealed.
Subsequently, Minister Lipavský participated in the panel "Russia's War Against Ukraine: Prospects for Peace" together with, for example, Andriy Sybiha, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, and former US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker.
The conference is organized by the think tank GLOBSEC, under the auspices of President Pavel, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in cooperation with the Prime Minister and other institutions. The programme is thematically structured in five blocks: the EU and new technologies; the EU and global order; security; corporate resilience; prosperity and competitiveness. The conference attracted over 1800 participants from 80 countries.
On the sidelines of the first day of the conference, the Minister met, for example, the Foreign Minister of Chile, the Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates and the Foreign Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He also presented the Medal of Merit for Diplomacy to Alexander Schallenberg, former Austrian Foreign Minister.
The Minister also used the second day to hold several meetings, for example with Ukrainian Minister Sybiha (https://mzv.gov.cz/jnp/en/issues_and_press/press_releases/minister_lipavsky_presented_to_his.html), the Estonian, Bulgarian and Vatican Foreign Ministers and the French Minister for European Affairs.
