Date: 08.05.2026 , Venue: Berlin, Germany

Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka will visit Berlin on 8 May 2026 at the invitation of his German counterpart, Federal Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul.

Minister Macinka welcomed the decision of the German side to schedule the visit for 8 May. “It is an important gesture that goes beyond ordinary diplomacy,” he said.

During the visit, both foreign ministers will jointly endorse a Memorandum extending the activities of the Czech-German Fund for the Future until 2037. The commitment will formally take effect next year, when both countries commemorate the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Czech-German Declaration. Since its establishment, the Fund has contributed to strengthening ties between both societies and overcoming the burdens of the past.

In Berlin, Petr Macinka will also meet with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, Armin Laschet. Together with the Chairman of the Czech-German Discussion Forum, Jörg Nürnberger, he will pay tribute to the memory of 677 executed Czech patriots at Plötzensee Memorial, the site of a former Nazi prison that now serves as a memorial to the victims of the regime.
