Deputy Marian discussed the implementation of Ukrainian peace plan in Jeddah

Ukrainian President Zelensky's 10-point peace plan and the role of other countries, including Czechia, in its implementation. This was the main topic of the high-level consultations held by Saudi Arabia in Jeddah on August 5, 2023 with the participation of the G7 countries, Ukraine, EU members and other states. The Czech delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Jan Marian.

"The Russian army must leave Ukrainian territory. Peace and its conditions must be set by the Ukrainians. The Czechs have historical experience of negotiations “about us without us” as well as having territorial concessions imposed on them. On behalf of Czechia, I offered help with implementing the peace plan, especially in the area of nuclear security and prosecution of Russian war crimes," said Deputy Marian.

On the sidelines of the conference, Deputy Marian held talks with representatives of Canada, the United Kingdom, South Korea, as well as the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.

Czechia’s representation at the high-level consultations is based on our strong and long-standing support for Ukraine. The meeting was also another opportunity for Czech diplomacy to talk to countries from the Global South, following on from Minister Jan Lipavsky's recent visits to India and Africa.
