Czechia to Send New Ambassadors to Cambodia and Nigeria

 

Czech diplomacy will send new ambassadors to two destinations in the coming months. Markéta Kolc Hájková will represent Czechia in Phnom Penh and Tomáš Výprachtický will go to Abuja.

"I wish Markéta Kolc Hájková and Tomáš Výprachtický every success in their future assignments," said Foreign Minister Jan Lipavský on the appointments.  

Markéta Kolc Hájková started her career at the Office of the Government in the European Affairs Section, where she prepared the Czech EU Presidency and participated in its implementation between 2007 and 2009. She joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2009 and has focused mainly on international organisations and security issues. From 2009 to 2013 she worked at the Permanent Representation of Czechia to the EU in Brussels. Between 2014 and 2016, she was Deputy Ambassador in Kabul and for the following four years, she worked at the Embassy in London. Since 2020, she has headed the OSCE Regional Security Unit in the Security Policy Department and since 2023 she has been Deputy Director of the Department.  

Tomáš Výprachtický started working for Czech diplomacy in 2004 and in the following years worked on European politics. Between 2007 and 2009, he worked in the European Affairs Section at the Office of the Government of Czechia, where, among other things, he prepared the programme of the Czech Presidency of the EU Council. From 2010 to 2014, he worked at the Permanent Representation of the Czech Republic to the EU in Brussels. He then spent three years as Head of the Coordination Unit in the Common Foreign and Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2017, he went for two years as Deputy Ambassador to Nigeria and in 2019 he continued in the same position at the Czech Embassy in Iraq. Since 2023, he has headed the Maghreb Unit in the Middle East and North Africa Department.
