Statement of Czech Diplomacy on Support of Action Against Russian Cybercriminals

Czechia fully supports the coordinated action by Australia, the US and the UK against the Russian entity ZSERVERS and individuals associated with it. According to information from partner countries, ZSERVERS provided the infrastructure for cybercriminal activities, including extortion attacks in a number of countries.

It is completely unacceptable that Russia allows these cybercriminals to operate from its territory. In doing so, Russia fundamentally violates its obligations under the UN Framework for Responsible Behaviour of States in Cyberspace.

Cybercriminals, and ransomware attacks in particular, pose a serious and persistent threat to national security, critical infrastructure and public services, including healthcare sector. It is for these reasons that Czechia advocates an active approach by the international community, strengthening cooperation between partners and increasing resilience. Czechia will continue to engage in combatting these threats also within the framework of the International Counter Ransomware Initiative.
