Statement concerning the cessation of hostilities in Syria

Czech Republic welcomes the announcement of a cessation of hostilities in Syria and the adoption of the UN Security Council Resolution no. 2336 of December 31, 2016 which constitutes a frame for the efforts of the international community to end the conflict in Syria.
It also considers this initiative to be a contribution to the implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution no. 2254 (2015). Together with the EU and the HR/VP F. Mogherini Czech Republic expresses its support for the resumption of peace talks under UN auspices.
