The Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized on September 8 - 9, 2022 a “Roundtable with Civil Society from Western Balkans on Challenges of European Integration”. This took place in the framework of the Czech Presidency of the Council of the EU and in cooperation with the CEELI Institute and Forum 2000 Foundation. Representatives of civil society, non-governmental organizations, media, academia, human rights and civic activists from the countries of Southeast Europe took active part in the Roundtable.
The open discussions were moderated by independent experts. The participants agreed on the need to continue reconciliation processes, support functional democratic institutions and strengthen the principles of the rule of law. A prerequisite for the European integration of the countries of Southeast Europe is a transparent free society and, therefore, it is important to support the fight against corruption and other detriments to the society.
At the end of the Roundtable, the participants adopted "Western Balkans Civil Society’s Call to Action".
