Eastern Partnership seminar on public administration reform focused on e-government and smart solutions

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Security Policy and Multilateral Affairs Martin Povejšil together with Jaroslav Kurfürst, Special Envoy for Eastern Partnership, and Gert Antsu, director of the Estonian Center for Eastern Partnership (ECEAP) and Special Envoy of Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, opened on November 12, 2019 the Eastern Partnership expert seminar on public administration reform about e-government and smart solutions.

The seminar inaugurated earlier today is the second event of its kind organized jointly by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic and the Estonian Center for Eastern Partnership (ECEAP). Deputy Minister Povejšil and both Special Envoys in their opening speeches emphasized the important role of the EU member states through their contributions to reform commitments in 20 priority areas by 2020 in the area of public administration reform. At the same time, they spoke about the 10th anniversary of the Eastern Partnership that we should use to reflect upon our activities to date and to foster our joint efforts in order to make our cooperation more efficient and result oriented.

This seminar focuses on topics that have been crucial from the Czech perspective as well, i.e. implementation and use of smart solutions including e-government tools at municipal and regional level of self-government. Apart from the representatives of all six Eastern Partnership countries and the organizers from the Czech Republic and Estonia, experts from Poland, Germany and the European Commission participate in the seminar as well. This event is organized in coordination with other Czech ministries and the cities of Prague and Pilsen. During the workshop, their representatives will present concrete examples of the use of smart solutions and e-tools in improving daily life of their citizens.
