State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Miloslav Stašek received the non-resident Ambassador of Singapore (based in Singapore) Tan Soo Khoon on the occasion of his regular visit to the Czech Republic on March 27, 2019. Bilateral relations, including the follow-up of the recent high-level visits, economic and trade cooperation and the prospects of a closer cooperation in science, research and innovations were among the discussed topics as well as plans for reopening the Czech diplomatic mission in Singapore in the future.
Singapore is an important partner country in the dynamic region of South-East Asia. The agreements on partnership and cooperation, on free trade and on investment promotion were signed between the EU and Singapore in October 2018. Upon its future entry into force, these three agreements intend to provide a modern legal base for further development of an even closer cooperation between the EU, its Member Countries and Singapore in many spheres of common interests.
The bilateral relations between the Czech Republic and Singapore are friendly, problem-free and have a long-standing tradition. They include a substantial trade exchange that reached about 880 million USD in 2018.
