
The Political Secretary Petr Drulák Met with Journalism Programs Fellows

The Political Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Petr Drulák met with young journalists from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Ukraine, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia, who have been selected as the participants of Václav Havel Journalism Fellowship and Jiří Dienstbier Journalism Fellowship in the Czernin Palace on December 14, 2015. The Fellows are currently placed with a corresponding language service in the headquarters of the Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in Prague.
Their discussion focused on the independence and professionalism of media as well as on current domestic and foreign policy issues in respective countries. The Political Secretary underlined the indispensable contribution of the media to democracy and human rights in general and specific support of the Czech MFA to the countries of the Eastern Partnership and Western Balkans.
The program Václav Havel Journalism Fellowship was established in 2011, on the basis of a joint initiative of the MFA and RFE/RL with the aim to promote young journalists from the countries of the Eastern Partnership and Russia. The program Jiří Dienstbier Journalism Fellowship that was established in 2014 supports journalists from the Western Balkan countries.
